Default Question for the ladies (medical)

Hi everyone!

I have been using this forum as a resource for a while now but not yet posted. I have to say I have found it a great help while going through the minefield of visa applications!!!

I am applying for spouse visa and nearly there with my application (woohoo).

I have one worry though. I am ready to apply for my medical (last step) however I am really worried that the doc will ask for last smear results or ask me about it or something. Thing is I haven't had one - ever!!! Irresponsible I know - but what I really need to know is.............is the doc likely to ask me this???

Thinking of using doc in Kingston or Harley Street.

Anyone used these docs and can advise if they were asked for the above????

I would really appreciate your advice as I don't want to hold up my application any more.

Thanks muchly.

Marie,

don't think they ask about smears. I only say this as I had a bit of a scare with a dodgy one last year (thankfully everyting OK) however can not recall any questions from panel doc re smear tests/results.

My doc asked me to bring the results of my last smear... I just told them I was unable to provide it, and that was that! Didn't cause a problem at all

From what I remember there was nothing on the actual form about it, and I certainly didn't get asked.
Good luck

Hi, I used the doc in kingston, very nice man, and he didn't ask me about smears.

However, being a gynaecology nurse, please get yourself checked out. It is not painful, sometimes uncomfortable, but I'm sure you can put up with 5 minutes of being uncomfortable and embarressed if it may save your life. LITERALLY!!!

Don't mean to preach, well, yeah, I do. It's just that I've seen the very worst that can happen and believe me, it isn't nice. And don't forget to do it every three years.

I agree

Get checked out, I'm not a laydee or a nurse, but my mates girlfriend never got checked and she died at the age of 28.

My wife tells me how awful it is to have a smear so you have my sympathies.

Don't want to sound like a scaremonger or preacher or worry you but that's what can happen.

Best wishes

Hi Marie

Had my meds on Thursday, doc never asked me anyhing about a smear.

Could I just add something here, a friend of mine had an abnormal smear some years back and had laser treatment on the NHS about 3 or 4 months later, she had the same again once she got to Aus and had the laser treatment SAME DAY.

Hey Marie, get checked out! I went this week because I wanted to get it sorted before I went to OZ. Said hello to the receptionist at 8.40 was back in my car by 8.50! Nice & easy & all sorted for another few years

Nothing was mentioned about it in my meds though.
