Hi all ! this newsgroup is the greatest !

i need some advice though ! i wish to claim 5 bonus points for working in Oz for 6
months - i worked under a working holiday visa but i just need to find out just how i
prove my experience - i worked for the same agency for 8 months completing several
contracts (none over 3 months of course!) but do i get a reference from the agency or
do i have to ask every place i worked at to give me a reference??? surely the agency
will suffice? and what detail should i go into for the references? should they be
longwinded detailing what systems i used and so on? or just that i did indeed work
for 8 months in several places...

hi m8

go to there equivelent of the tax office and get them to print out your tax details for each company you worked at

and if they dont then ur stuffed get a refrence from each employer you worked with.

to get individual ones from the clients? - bearing in mind some contract were 2 weeks
i dont think they'll want to write me one ! the agency on the other hand have no
problem with it ! and are tax returns enough? i heard they are no way enough and you
need proper references?!

just want to make sure i get it right, y'know !!

You need references that can be checked by the DIMIA.

Tax records show you worked but not as what.

so can i just get references then? will that suffice? and what kind of detail should
they have - should it be a lengthy description of my job and stuff? do most people
put in the tax records as well or are checkable references sufficient?

also do you know how they check references (i know that sounds dodgy but i'm
intrigued !) do they phone or write or email? and what if the person who wrote your
reference leaves the employer?

i've looked around on the net for advice on all this but couldnt find much help ! is
there an official guide to it all somewhere that i'm missing!!??
