Dear Stan,
Yes, but only for individuals who knows how to spell properly.

People with IT skills are not in demand in Perth. Work is very scarce at the minute, not just in the IT sector, but also finance and accounting.

Get in touch with the agencies and ask them what the situation is like. They may well tell you things are great, but don't believe it for a minute.

Salaries have dropped hugely. I know people who have gone from earning $50-70 ph (contracting) to earning $25 - 30ph. And permanent work is not much better either.

I don't know what the market is like over on the East coast, it may be better, hopefully someone over there can give some advice?

Similar situation in Adelaide.

I got into Oz on a 'skilled' visa based on my IT skills but have been unable to get IT work here as it is apparently fairly scarce.

Making my living now as a copier engineer which is something I used to do a number of years ago. Apart from getting covered in toner from time to time it's a lot more rewarding than IT!

Why not consider a career change and getting a spell checker?
