Unhappy Pregnant?

We lodged our application May of this year and i would like to know what are the consequences of becoming pregnant while our papers is still being processed? We haven't been requested for medicals, and i am the primary applicant??

Also is it true that the advantage would be that once the baby is born before the result came out, he/she will automatically be included in our application without having to pay additional visa application costs for the baby?

I heard someone says pregnancy and immigration don't mix well and i would like to know why this is.

I hope you can shed light regarding this topic. Many thanks in advance!

Children are automatically included when you receive your Pr visa through, they don't get assessed ( apart from medicals). As the ageing population is increasing

they will be glad to welcome any children into the country.
Your main problem would be that when you have your medical you need to have a chest X-ray. This delivers quite a large dose of radiation and is not advised during pregnancy, for obvious reasons. Your application can not therefore be finalised until you have given birth and had the x-ray done. It would be your risk as to whether you wanted to go ahead with the x-ray anyway, but most doctors would advise against it.
Once you have had the medical I believe that the new baby will be included in your application once you have informed them of it's birth date etc.

Good luck and don't let it put you off !!

We applied under the skilled independent visa category in June 2001. We were advised at that time to put our plans for a family on hold due to the x-ray risk, which we did or so we thought!!!! ........we had a very pleasant surprise a few weeks ago when we found out that I was pregnant.

As you can imagine we were very concerned about the medical/xray issue so did some research on this matter. We have been informed by a senior radiologist and our GP that the risk to the baby is minimal. The only thing that we have been advised to do is to wait until I am in my 13 week of pregnanty before I have the x-ray. With the information that we have been provided with, both myself and my husband feel confident in going ahead with the x-ray. Apparently, the level of x-ray exposure is minimal and if pregnant you will be asked to wear a lead blanket around your middle to further protect that area.

At the end of the day the decision is for each individual to decide on, so I wish you all the best for the future.

Rgds,
Icy

We got our visas @1 month ago & we found out my wife was expecting
after submitting our initial appplication & just before the request
for medicals came through. Following a call to Australia House we were
advised to wait until the birth & were sent another medical form in
the meantime & told to undertake the medicals withing 49 days of the
birth. When he was born we applied for his passport & got his full
birth certificate certified by a solicitor, & @ 1 month after our son
was born my wife & I had our chest x-rays & we all had medicals (new
baby too). We sent in the copy of his birth certificate, & passport
when they were requested & our new son was automatically included in
our application.

If you become pregnant before doing the medicals, things will go on
hold until after the baby arrives.

true, but if the baby is born after visa grant (unless he's born in
Australia) you'll need to sponsor him separately for a Dependent Child
visa. New form, fee etc.

That was probably me.

It's because of the complications that can arise (even if it's as
simple as having your application delayed because you've become
pregnant before request for medicals).

HI there,

When we were supposed to go for the medical & x-ray, My wife was
7to8 months pregnant. No doctor would want to commit themselves by saying
whether
it was safe. So we did our research on the Net.
We went thru it by using lead shielding at one of those specialised
hospital............
When we got our son, we submit an inclusion letter (u must do that).
If we hadn't, and if we got our PR before we did that, his application would
be a new and separate one.
