Has anyone been able to arrange a pre-approval for a mortgage or set up credit cards before they arrived in Australia. Do we have to start again with our credit rating when we arrive in Australia. Or will the banks look at the fact that we have North American credit cards, had a mortgage for 6 years and leased 3 cars.

not sure about pre-approval on the mortgage front but contact the Commanwealth Bank of Australia and they can set up your debit cards and bank account before you leave.

Really nice people too deal with - give them a call and maybe they could give you the advice your looking for ; number
