We have just had full medicals for a 457 visa but have decided against going over yet as a good opportunity has come up in Guernsey for a couple of years.
The question is if we apply online for independant PR can we use those medicals and also at the begiining of the process can we ask for validation visit not to be until jan 2009.

No you will need to get new medicals as the validity period will not extend for a couple of years. Your validation date is usually roughly 1 year from when meds or police checks are done.
