I am eligible to apply for citzenship later this month, was back in the UK for 9 months last year will I need a police check from there for the citzenship application? and if so what is the best way to obtain this.

For just 9 months you shouldn't need one, but see here

Do you meet the residence requirement if you were outside Australia for 9 months last year?

The requirement is that you have not been absent from Australia for more than one year in total, in the 4 year period, including no more than 90 days in the year before applying.

can anyone help me please. i sat my test for citizenship today and passed but was told i need to get police clearance from uk because we didnt come to australia until 2 years after the visa was granted. my question is how do i pay for this as on the website it says they only accept bankers draft or cheque in uk currency ?

Do you have a uk bank account still that can do you a bank transfer or a bankers draft? If not, do you not have a friend or relative in the UK with a cheque book?

Or, as it mentions bank transfers, it may be possibld to now do a transfer from hereif your bank will do international transfers. On my phone so hard to research it at present ,sorry

Any bank here in Australia will do an international bank draft for you, in any currency.
