Hi Donna,
When I called the DIMIA line in the US, which just happens to be
answered in Ottawa, I received some specific responses. Not only that
but my partner discovered he had a case officer. I passed the phone to
him so he could get details.

I had the same experiences (with the Melbourne DIMIA office) when I called (twice), and even when I went into the DIMIA office after getting nowhere on the phone to notify them of change of address I asked the guy if I had to fill out a change of address form he just said "no worries mate I'll just update the computer and that would be it". I had meeting with case officer a few weeks later and she still had me listed at the old address.. D'oh! The people at DIMIA seemed friendly enough and willing to help but they do come across a tad disorganised.
