Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

You must be feeling very relieved.
We fly out today so here I am sat at my mums computer at 6.35am because I can't sleep, watching the exchange rate as we need to transfer our bank account today ( it's the worst it's been for ages).
Still you can't have everything, after reading your worries we are just grateful that Ian has a job to go to, even if he does have to start work 4 days after we get there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope the job goes well

Welcome to a more relaxed frindlier pace of life

Congratulations!

I've been following your posts and check in regularly to see if you've
posted any news. I'm just starting out, but I'm really inspired by all
of you who are 'going for it'!

So well done, and best wishes to you both in your new lives in NZ!

Way to go Phil!! So happy (and relieved) for you both. You will be the beacon for those of us soon to plunge into those far distant hazy mists, so shine on!

To say that some of us were waiting with baited breath to hear the final outcome of the 'NZ Job Search' would be an understatement to say the least! Hope you can spare the time some day soon to fill us in, even just a bit, on how (and where) you did it...

TA!

Hey, haven't been on for a while, so was really great to see such good news. Many congratulations!! My partner heads out in just over a week, so fingers crossed and everything. What a wonderful feeling you must have to now know that PR is yours, it feels like a long and difficult slog at the moment but I hope we get there too in the next 6 months!!

Thanks Lizzie,
I know your partner is a programmer but what sort?? I can
give him the number of the few good agents in Wellington, If he come upto
Wanganui then get him to give us a ring and we can find a sofa for him
(unlikely to find a job in wanganui, as there is nothing there) but the
offer is always there. Good luck Lizzie!!

Hi Emily, what a kind offer, thank you. As you know he is intially heading to Christchurch, but has an open mind as to where he may eventually find work, so you never know. He is an embedded systems programmer. Did Phil find the agencies helpful. I know that Cy hates them with a passion in this country, constantly plaguing him when in reality they're are just trying to gleen info. and don't really have a job opportunity at all. If there are some good agencies worth their salt, I'm sure he would be interested to hear. Is Phil's new job convenient to where you are living, are you going to start looking for a house to buy.

I've started the countdown now, just 8 more days, we've never been apart for more than a few days in the last 10 years, so this is going to take some getting used to, just hope it pays off in the long run.

Keep me posted with any interesting info., it's good to hear from someone who has been there and bought the t-shirt kind of thing!

Hi Lizzie,

Most of the agencies weren't much help to me - alot of them never even
replied to emails or phonecalls etc, except with the standard "other
candidates better match the requirements" email, which is really annoying.
The only two agencies who were helpful in any way were Duncan Ryan (Lyndon
Hawke) and Real Recruitment (Natasha Philp), both based in Wellington. In
the end it was my own efforts that found me this job. The agencies never
really plagued me, but a great deal of them advertise for positions they
either do not have, or that are really vague, just to get names on their
books, much like the UK.

The new job is 2.5 hours north of here, so we're moving (tomorrow in fact!).
We've got somewhere to rent, and we'll see what happens from there.

Hope the job hunting goes well for Cy - make sure you keep us
up-to-date.....
Get him to pass me his CV, I could have a look for him, just in case I see
something he doesn't. I have also gone through the adjustment of my CV to
the NZ market, so I might be able to give some pointers if needed!

I'm sure it will pay off in the long run.

Best of luck,
Phil (& Em)
