Default Ph.D. as a work experience???

Dear all,

I’m so glad that getting many advices so far regarding on our application, I am now trying to put all the information together to get positive outcome. It seems I am facing another difficulty which needs your assistance.

My husband was a research assistant doing his civil engineering research for Ph.D. He would like to claim 10 point including this experience for special work experience. It was paid and worked for over 20 hours per week. However, I found that claiming work experience as a research assistant or Ph.D. is not easy as many people suggest in this forum.

1. I think many of Ph.D. candidates do their researches and receive pay form University for that. My husband hold a title of teaching and research assistant (TA/RA) at that time. Do you think his activity recognized as a research engineer in general or TA/RA is a recognized occupation which is not on the SOL? I suppose if we get an employment reference letter from University stating the title as a TA/RA, we seem no chance to getting points. But if the University evaluates his work equivalent to researcher, do you think this would leads to solve the case? I understand that the University may not be that flexible of course. However, I feel it may be depends of how they describe your title.

2. Does anyone successfully include your Ph.D. work experience in your application? Pls let us hear your situation.

We are very appreciated if we can hear anything about this matter.
Thank you.

Dear Eiko ,
Sent you a PM. In my personal opinion any work done as internee or as a research assisstant while doing a PhD wont count towards experince.
