Sydney and Melbourne are bigger, so usually have more jobs, especially for IT stuff.
Then usually comes Brisbane, and then Perth and Adelaide.
And I think the IT market is a bit the same as the rest of the world ??

Can't help anymore, other people maybe.

All I can do is link you to some sites:

www.jobsearch.gov.au
www.thewest.com.au (employment)

I was in Perth two weeks ago, validating my PR visa and investigating the
job market. In regard to IT (my profession as well) there was only one job
advertised in the West Australians Saturday issue the two Saturdays I
looked. Most agencies I've contacted recommend Sydney & Melbourne.

If we move to Perth it's going to be time for an occupational change, so it
seems.

Brgds

There is IT in Perth, just not as much as Sydney and Melbourne, so it might take longer to get established and find a job, cos the turnover is not as high.

My current company (motorola) were hiring software engineers for Perth and Adelaide at the back-end of last year (pity I'm not a software engineer) but all positions have now been filled.

Guess its up to how much of a risk you want to take. The safer option IT jobwise is Sydney or Melbourne in my opinion, but then you have to pay higher house prices so ..........
