Passport Question
#1

Hi there,
We have both Aussie and UK passports. My UK passports have expired, my Aussie ones expire in March / April 2016.
My question is: Can we leave and re-enter Australia on our Aussies and can I renew our UK ones and enter and leave the UK on these?
From what I have googled, the Australian ones are valid until the day of expiry and we can get around the 'six months validity to travel to the UK' if we renew the UK passports?
Thanks for your help!
Jules

You can enter the Uk on an Aussie passport for up to 6 months as a visitor, so just enter on your Aus ones and renew the Uk ones while you're there.
Unlike many countries neither Aus or the Uk insist on oassports having 6 months validity. They just have to be valid at the time of entry. Be careful if making a stopover on the way in somewhere like Singapore though.

Thank you x
We are stopping over in Abu Dhabi coming back - Dad's being a dick - just wondering if it's easier to renew the UK passports as from what I've read we only need my signature for the kids?

I homestly don't know the rules for Abu Dhabi, but if you renew the UK ones over there you can use them to enter as they will be valid for more than the 6 months (assuming they insist on that). You will still need to enter and leave Aus on the Aussie ones (that includes when you check in back in the Uk, and when you check in at Abu Dhabi after the stopover.

The UAE requires at least six months validity.

If you renew your British passports - either before you travel or in the UK - then you can use these to enter the UAE although you'll need to show your Australian passports in order to board the plane to Australia.
