Passport Expiry Date On Entry
Hi,
If you are moving to Australia on a 457 visa, do you still need 6 months left on your passport to gain entry?
Cheers
Ron

As the 457 is only a temporary visa too that requires you to leave within 90 days if you lose your job and cannot find a new sponsor, I would think it is also wiser and safer to travel on a new passport

Re: Passport Expiry Date On Entry
It's a Philippine passport that can take up to 8 weeks to renew and the passport expires in September, the visa application went 2 weeks ago, so it might be a very close call as they intend to leave as soon as the visa is granted.
So the application has gone in with the current passport details, I guess it can be changed using form 929 like you said even for a foreign passport?

Re: Passport Expiry Date On Entry
Hi there!
Sparkles does beat everyone to it
With regards to the passport issue, there is no strict requirement by the Department of Immigration to have at least 6 months left or longer but it is generally recommended. Keep in mind as well that some airlines have policies where they may not allow you to board an aircraft if you have less than 6 months left (seen it all!).
I would join the others and recommend that you try and obtain a new passport beforehand (it will probably be cheaper and quicker than if you do it while in Australia).
Good luck!

Re: Passport Expiry Date On Entry
Every country has its own rules on passport validity. Both the UK and Australia only require that a passport is valid on entry, there is no '6 month rule' as there is in many other places.
