Default Passport expires

Hi all,

Does anyone know what happens if your passport expires before you visa? It is easy (doubt it), to transfer to new issued passport?

Many thanks in advance,

Cappie

1. You need to get a new passport.

2. It's very hard to transfer visa to a new passport in the UK (only in exceptional circumstances will they do so).

3. You will need to travel with visa in the old passport. Although this is ok with DIMIA, not all airline staff will understand this. So leave plenty of time for check-in as people have missed flights because the airline refused to accept their visa (in an old passport) couldn't get clearance from DIMIA Canberra on time.

4. If you haven't had your visa stamped yet, get a new passport now.

5. It's a lot easier to get a visa restamped in Australia, but may not be possible in all cases (or they may have to give you a handwritten visa label which is messy and may also confuse airline staff).
