Passport expired
Hello there
Was wondering if anyone can help or just give me a little advise  We are emigrating to gold coast the first week in Jan 12 this will also activate our visa's, my five year olds passport expirys in july 12, and not sure if we will be allowed into the country with this? and if we can will we be able to get her a new british passport when there? This may seem a really silly question but have tried to contact our agent but ain't getting any reply, when we were given our visa's they must of realised the expiry date for her visa  Please help Thanx :) |

Thank you, thats really eased the wondering:thumbup: Just thought it might of been more hassel if we changed it before we go with us having been granted the visa, the passport numbers will change if we got a new one here. Might have to have another think

As long as her passport is valid when she enters Australia she will be fine. Beware if you are stopping off en route though, some places like Singapore need 6 months validity on a passport. You are fine on a transit stop - just changing planes - but need 6 months if entering th country itself.

Once you get a new passport you can send both to Australia House and get the visa evidenced in the new passport. Or carry both, as Polly suggests. |
Re: Passport expired
You can renew a passport up to 9 months without losing any of the time, they'll just add the months on to the end of the next passport. Unless AHC London have changed things (which I don't think they have), once you have the visa sticker in a passport you can't get a new sticker in a new passport through them so you'll have to carry both through passport control but that's no problem. Once here though you can take the passports to your nearest DIAC office and they will put a new sticker in free of charge there and then.

WOW  You are all ever so helpful:) Thank you Xx
Now that it is getting closer to our leap, my husband is starting to having doubts and these hurdles are getting narrower and higher  Would he be able to go out alone to activate the visa's or do we all have to go? least if we do do this it might just give us a little more time to sort things etc:confused: |
