Default Parent Visa Options

If we are successful & emigrate to Oz in 2015, we are wondering what options would be available for my mother in law.

Both her son and daughter would then be living in Australia. I have read about a parent visa which we could sponsor her for once we have lived there for 2 years is that correct? And did I read somewhere this costs approx. $45k or was that a typo?!

Can she come to Australia during those 2 years on some kind of temporary visiting visa?

Thanks

No it is not a typo, that is the cost of a parent visa. I believe there is another $10k that needs to go on a bond or something and is returned eventually.

She can visit Australia, like any other tourist in the meantime.

there is a cheaper parent visa option open at the moment- but maybe not for long -- & the grant time is long too, but can be waited for onshore if over 65. How long has the daughter been in Aus? This will determine when she can apply.
