Question Parent visa estranged adult child passport

Planning to apply for a contributory parent visa. Have 2 adult children - one in Australia one in the UK.

Daughter in the UK we have no contact with and have not seen for several years. On the visa application form it states you must include copies of their birth certificate and 'evidence of where all children reside' i.e. passport.

If this is not possible, are there alternative documents or information which can be provided?

Thanks very much for any advice.

How does a passport prove where she resides?

I'm not sure but on Form 47PA 'Part Q Checklist' it says "Evidence of where all your children reside (eg. passport, citizenship or residence certificate)".

We cannot produce a copy of birth certificate, passport or even current address.

Interesting one, and there must be a way round it. BritInParis will probably know, if he is about later on.

Why can't you produce a birth certificate? Aren't you the parent? I was under the impression that birth certificates could be applied for. https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-...u-need-to-know Is there no way to look for a phone number (white pages search)? Or electoral roll search?

Thanks Dorothy, yes true we can apply for a birth certificate using that link.

Which just leaves the "Evidence of where all your children reside (eg. passport, citizenship or residence certificate)" requirement.

Electoral roll? White pages search? Facebook?

Very few people in this world are untraceable.

Unfortunately tried all of that, no social media accounts either.

We're hoping there is an alternative to getting a copy of passport.

She may have you blocked. I'm happy to have a look if you like. If you PM me her name I can have a look on Facebook, etc.

I don't think you can get a copy of her passport.

Thanks Dorothy I appreciate that. We have had others look with no success. Hopefully there is other evidence we could use.

As you will still meet the balance of family test regardless of where she lives I think maybe a signed affidavit stating the circumstances may well suffice. Or you could employ someone to trace her, then they can produce their report as evidence either way (although that would be more expensive).

Or perhaps have both? Maybe have the others who have tried write stat decs saying how they attempted to find her and include it with the OP's affidavit?

Both rammygirl and Dorothy are probably not too far off the green. OP you will not be the first one to ever have this problem and there have been ways to deal with it before, probably involving stat decs and affadavits. You might want to consider the advice of a MARA-registered agent since they are likely to have been down that path and will guide you in how to deal with it.

Good luck.

I do wonder how they would know if you omitted a child altogether. Not that I am advising this but how do you prove you don’t have children.

Just include a letter explaining the situation. Your case officer will request additional/alternative documentation if necessary.
