Irish tradesmen and professionals relocating to Australia are hitting the ground running, with a new report revealing that skilled migrants are gaining employment, adjusting to the Oz lifestyle and finding their feet faster than ever.
The recent 'longitudinal survey' by the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) involved the questioning of over 10,000 skill stream and family stream primary applicants. It was found that after 18 months in Australia, employment rates for skilled migrants are well above the already astounding national average of 97 percent.
The significant boost over the past 12 years reflects the current government's commitment to supporting skilled migrants to maintain Australia's burgeoning economy.
Edwina Shanahan, spokesperson for Migration.ie commented: 'This news should come as a source of great encouragement to Australian visa hopefuls in Ireland. Australian migration has been immensely popular for skilled migrant candidates in recent years, thanks to their streamlined immigration scheme and current demand for qualified workers. However, to have it confirmed that the post-relocation experience is so overwhelmingly positive for the majority of migrants is fantastic news.
There has been a steady increase in the numbers migrating to Australia and New Zealand particularly amongst tradespeople quoting the main reason for the move to be better job prospects and quality of life.
All potential visa applicants should be careful to research the Australian visa to ensure that they are eligible for the visa first. You can do a free online assessment on www.migration.ie or by phone at 01 679 3255 to see if you meet the basic legislative requirements. Visa First are holding migration nights every month at the Red Cow Inn. Further details from www.visafirst.com.
