Default Original Documents

Can you use original documents when applying for a defacto visa at Australia
House in London? Will they be returned?

Alternatively, can the essential documents be certified at Aus House? If
so, how much does it cost? I'm not sure I'll have time to go to a
solicitors and I want to get the visa in soon!

As many other posts on this forum say, do not submit originals unless you are asked for them.
Submitting certified copies is like buying insurance, you lose some money and time in certifying (just as you pay premium for insurance) but you are safe from the hazard of losing originals.

We always lodge originals of documents that prove the relationhship. For example cards, letters, photos etc. Copies do not have the same effect with a case officer. We ask for the originals back and they always have bene returned.

Other documents such as birth certificates, divorce certificates etc, you should lodge just certified copies.

Thanks. Can Aus House in London certify the documents?

I think Aus House can do the certifying, but you'll pay through the nose for it....I'd get it done elsewhere.

As for photos etc - I know they say no originals, and that would make sense for documents, but when it comes to photos, cards etc it should be fine to send originals. As long as you don't mind never having them back. I know Pollyana sent in a load of photos and they sent them all back except one...
