One way tickets to NZ, are they allowed?
 

Hi there,

We are heading out to NZ on 1 way tickets....I did read somewhere that this was ok as long as you could prove you had a Visa card or funds to purchase a ticket back out of NZ, at the end of the 12 months. I have the one way tickets to hand now, but I seem to read everywhere that you need return tickets and one ways are not acceptable?

Any idea anyone?

Check with the airline as they will be the one who will either board
you or deny you. They are the ones who get fined for carrying
passengers without the proper documentation.

What happens to you? Your held in transit and returned to your point
of origin.

Who on earth sold you a ow ticket without first checking your
documentation?

I managed to answer my own question through the other section of the forum, and the NZIS site. As our passports state : Outward passage waived, there's no problem having one way flights....

We are in a similar situation, no visa yet, but still in the position
to change our tickets from a oneway to a return at our travelagency.
What did you mean exactly with: Outward passage waived, there's no
problem having one way flights.... Was this stated in your visa or at
NZIS?

It's stated on the NZIS site - basically, it seems that you can be forced to buy a return ticket upon arrival if you dont have these magic words in your travel visa by all accounts (it was news to me too)....if you look on my other thread.... I just read this NZIS - one way tickets you'll see the other reaponses ......

Luckily we had "outward passage waived" printed on our visa's so we seem to be ok on one way tickets - although we have funs available anyway to prove that we can get out of NZ if we need to.

Do you know if "outward passage waived" is always printed on
workvisa's or were you just lucky ;o)
And can you point me to where you found this information on
tickets&visa's at the NZIS, I have been searching thru the site but
can't seem to find it. I did see the news on Advance Passenger
Screening and that you have to have the
'correct' documentation, but not what that is.
And bringing a bankstatement / visacard with you in case they need
hard evidence should do the trick you reckon?

How many times and in how many places are you going to make this post? You obviously seem nervous about it. Making more posts won't give you the answer you want to hear?
