Hi!
Have just joined the forum. We have applied for visa 176 (skilled-sponsored) for Oz but, apart from receiving the acknowledgement, have heard nothing since - is this normal? How long is the whole process? When can we expect to take the next steps??
Any advice will be gratefully received!

Knowing neither the actual date you applied nor the method it is hard to help. I assume you applied some time in October?
Paper based or on-line? In either case, you have an ACK from them so your application is lodged. If you paid by credit card you can see the amount charged to your account which is another confirmation that the application is lodged.
Is your nominated skill in CSL? If not the waiting may be long. If you're in CSL, then read on...
176: Is it family sponsored or state sponsored?
If its family sponsored, have the sponsor also done their sponsor form on-line? Did they get an ACK for that?
If that is also done, then most likely your application should start to be procesed already provided your nominated skill is in CSL. Did you check the status on-line? Do you regularly monitor emails whwre they would send the request for further information? Also look in the 'junk' box. Some email providers may put that mail in junk as the email address doesnt look like a personal email address.
If state sponsored, has the state conformed sponsorship? Have they notified DIAC of the sponsorship?
There may be several factors affecting the delay. Not knowing much about the specifics it's hard to say more for me... I am not an agent, just another applicant in the queue but have spent hours poring through DIAC website and many forums.
Also search for Aussie Visa timelines in Google. You can add your name to any that you fancy and can compare you against others in similar situation.

My NSW SS was granted on 01/12/09 - but I'm still trying to get a confirmation from DSRD if they received my acceptance of state sponsorship and forwarded form 1100 to DIAC ... waiting patiently (more or less

Got an email from CO requesting for medicals...I was under the impression that 457 medicals are valid for PR provided they are less than 1 yr.unfortunately not in our case.

Anyone here has filed PLE to nofiy DIAC that application is in CSL ? or something similar ?

I did'nt notify DIAC about my application being on the CSL. But some people do. I think their systems are designed to identify the CSL occupations.

Its always safe to notify by a PLE that you are in a CSL applicant, so they note it in your file if they didn't note it before.

Knowing neither the actual date you applied nor the method it is hard to help. I assume you applied some time in October?
Paper based or on-line? In either case, you have an ACK from them so your application is lodged. If you paid by credit card you can see the amount charged to your account which is another confirmation that the application is lodged.
Is your nominated skill in CSL? If not the waiting may be long. If you're in CSL, then read on...
176: Is it family sponsored or state sponsored?
If its family sponsored, have the sponsor also done their sponsor form on-line? Did they get an ACK for that?
If that is also done, then most likely your application should start to be procesed already provided your nominated skill is in CSL. Did you check the status on-line? Do you regularly monitor emails whwre they would send the request for further information? Also look in the 'junk' box. Some email providers may put that mail in junk as the email address doesnt look like a personal email address.
If state sponsored, has the state conformed sponsorship? Have they notified DIAC of the sponsorship?
There may be several factors affecting the delay. Not knowing much about the specifics it's hard to say more for me... I am not an agent, just another applicant in the queue but have spent hours poring through DIAC website and many forums.
Also search for Aussie Visa timelines in Google. You can add your name to any that you fancy and can compare you against others in similar situation.

Hi GreenDude,
Thanks for your reply. We submitted our application on-line 31.10.09. It's a 176 family-sponsored visa. My sister hasn't done her bit yet. I guess I was waiting for them to tell me to go ahead with that bit. Does she just need to go ahead and do it??
What does CSL stand for?? I'm a teacher and it is on the skills in demand list. Is that what you're asking?
I do regularly check my email (although not junk - will do that) and I have tried tracking it but nothing seems to be happening.
