Hi All

WE have permenant residency in NZ originally from uk and was just wondering if any of yoos had gone from NZ -OZ, do you have to go through the visa rigmarole or can you get into OZ with permenant res??

Its the full visa monty for you.... NZ PR does not count for anything with the Australians. Depending on when your NZ PR was granted you may be able to explore NZ citizenship.

Thanks for that, our pr was granted in 2004 and we missed the 3 year citizenship by 3 weeks, so have 2 years to go for the 5 years

needs some warm weather and a better salary

That doesn't make sense ... the new rules for NZ citizenship apply to those who applied for PR on or after 21 April 2005.

we did sorry, we had a talent visa granted in 2004 and applied for residency throug eoi in feb 2005 by the time we got our medicals etc together it was May 2005 posted it on Monday had residency on the Friday!!

As someone else has said, New Zealand PR gives you no benefits in Australia - you have to apply from scratch.

You should be eligible for indefinite returning resident visas around now - better to apply in case the facility is closed down.

IF you cannot get a permanent visa for Australia, think long and hard before abandoning New Zealand in favour of temporary status in Australia.

Unlucky, I think that you could have applied without including the medicals with your form if that was all that was holding you back.
