Default Nursing job in Australia

Hi
I am a Qualified nurse working in an Elderly Medical Rehabilitation unit since Dec 2005 in Cardiff UK.I have got Australia Nursing Registration and would like to move and work in Australia.
Contacted few agencies to help to find job and visa process, but unfortunately couldn't find any job as there is less vacancies for Medical or Rehabilitation nurses.(reply from agencies)
Could you please help me to find a job.

Hi Shainy.

There is a forum specially for nurses so maybe worthwhile asking for advice on that one.

As a nurse you may well qualify for independent skills migration, in which case you don't have to find a job with sponsorship first.
Have a look at the visa wizard on www.immi.gov.au for your options

Also look for recent posts by eddie007 on the subject of hospitals/units using agencies to find nurses (basically, she says don't bother).

There are some hospitals that have more a rehab function or have rehab units, which might be for aged care or rehab, or with younger populations, eg after car smashes, post-coma or spinal injury. The Dept of Veterans Affairs treats war veterans very well and provides the funding for various rehab programmes, often at private hospitals, more info about DVA here.

I'm with Polly. Why not get the visa first and then you don't need to find sponsorship, nurses never have trouble finding work.
