Have i got a chance ?
The IT market is seizing up and the MODL list will soon not require IT
professionals especially as lots of new people are joining on to the IT
Profession.
I have 3 years experience in Helpdesk Support (yes very hard to get out of)
i am now in the VOIP sector. I should have by the start of next year
completed IT certs in Cisco,Microsoft,CiSSP. I have a BTEC National Diploma
In IT.
Is there anyway apart from trying to get my company to transfer me ?. Most
companies wouldnt want the hassle and the chances are very slim.
Help !.

You don't necessarily need an MODL occupation to migrate.
Most IT people don't get MODL points any more.
Do your research and see if you can meet the pass mark anyway - IT is
still on the Skilled Occupations List, for now at least. But you need
to meet the ACS requirements, degree and/or work experience.

Are you confusing the MODL with the SOL? ICT occupations are still on the SOL, but most of them are no longer on the MODL.

If you are planning on getting a skilled visa by nominating an ICT occupation, you will have to get a positive skills assessment from ACS. Under the current guidelines (effective Oct 1, 2002) you will need at least 6 years of IT experience to back up your IT diploma if you want to get a positive assessment from them.

You should discuss your options with a registered migration agent. You are right about most companies being reluctant about sponsoring non-PRs in IT.
