Default New Zealand PR - points help

Hi,
I need to understand how to claim points for Work experience. I have 10
yrs experience in IT industry and have work experience in the
identified growth areas/clusters/absolute skills shortage.
Need to understand what this clause means in the EOI guide. Sort of
confused about this one.
"If you do not have skilled employment in New Zealand or an offer of
skilled employment in New Zealand, or if your work experience is not in
an area of absolute skills shortage, you can only qualify for points
for your work experience if it is in a labour market that is comparable
to
New Zealand."

Since my work experience is in an area of absolute skills shortage, but
I have not worked in a comparable labour market, can I claim points for
the work experience?

Someone please help! Appreciate your response.

Thanks!

Hi,
To put it simply, Does work experience have to be in a comparable
labour market inorder to claim points?
Aren't there any knowledgeable folks around to help?

Hi there,

I'm myself in IT and have recently (just yesterday) got my PR Visa for NZ.

Simple answer is that you wouldnt get these extra points if you dont have one of the following:

1. Offer of Employment from a company in NZ
2. Already working in a company in NZ

You got to make up 140 points (it was 100 points when I applied last year) if you want you EOI (Expression of Interest) to be selected from the Pool.

I'm not sure but I guess you'll also have chances to be selected if your Points are somewhere between 120 and 140 points. If you an offer of employment then your EOI will be selected automatically ...
