After all it is not good for both the society and the migrants to come here and not find jobs. Proirity should be given to occupations in demand. |

Summary of Commlaw data, not a legal interpretation! No idea yet when this takes effect, if ever.
This is schedule 6. Other points scores are listed in Schedule 6a and 6b, but I'm not sure how the a) and b) apply now. Agents? Quote: * Up to 80 points for the mix of higher skilled occupation and experience and higher qualifications, down to 10 points for having all of one's education in Australia and no quals or special job * 5 - 30 points for age * 5 - 20 points for English * 5 - 15 points for family sponsorship * 5 - 10 points for sponsor being an Australian citizen * 10 points for already being settled in Australia * 5 points for location of sponsor Haven't managed to track down the relevant points required for each visa class yet, so please don't ask me. Note the flexibility introduced in the first point. A person edumacated in Australia without a critical job gets 10 points, and 90 points max for everything else, so max total 100 = Regional visa only????? A highly educated person without sponsor or already being here gets 130. Methinks that having 120-130 points might yet become the new Priority.... Will be interesting to see the points required by each visa. |
