I have applied for subclass 880 on 6th August and my asco code is 2211-11 Accountant and i meet the pass mark of 115.
i have been allocated a CO and he requested form 1221. Does that mean my appl has already been points tested.
how long does it take after the submission of form 1221 to finalize subclass 880 applications.
Thanks

Hi
Most accountant graduates in Australia aged under 30 and with good english will meet the current 880 passmark of 115 points. And so this change to MODL will not effect benefit you any further.
If a case officer is asking for a 1221 then it means they may have been able to finalise the case then if that had been there. The fact that it was not means that they will have to relook at it later when they get time. This could be anything from 1-5 months as they are trying to process 'fully documented' applications as quickly as possible.

Hi Dev
I wouldn't. If it is still in their processing time they are unlikely to answer. (7 months).

Taking the cue from what they've done with hairdressers, it's entirely possible they might make MODL points for accountants contingent on having an Australian or recognised overseas professional qualification, or some additional work experience.
I personally don't think it especially realistic to consider a fresh graduate with a bachelors degree (and not even CPA or CA yet) to be a fully qualified accountant. Nor do most employers, I'd think.

one cannot rely on MODL as it changes every 3-4 months.

The Sydney Area Skills Shortage List. I mentioned it earlier today in a thread about accountants going onto the MODL before Steve posted about the MODL, so perhaps you haven't scrolled back that far.

Hi George
Yes, thanks for that, is an actionpacked time in Immigration laws at the moment.
For those interested there have been
1) Some new occupations added to the SOL
2) And new applicants for the sponsored 138 visa who have relatives in Sydney will need to ensure their occupation is on the Sydney and Selected Areas Skilled Shortage List (SASSL)
Full details are on DIMIA's website at ..
www.immi.gov.au/migration/skilled/index.htm
