Red face new member needs advice

Hello all members, bear with me as i am a new member.
I'm looking for any advice with a dilemma were in. My partner, son (9) and i were hoping to move to Brisbane next year and are in the early stages. Just booked to meet migration agents in December.
Thing is we have just found out that are son has type one diabetes and is insulin dependent.
Can any one tell us if this would affect our application and how will it affect us with Medicare and private medical cover.
Would it be expensive due to the medication he will need for rest of his life?
Thanks in advance for any replies
Dawn.

If your son passes the medicals for the visa, then he will be covered for Medicare just like any other Australian resident and citizen. Private insurance is another matter due to a pre-existing condition. I am not sure of the costs of the insulin and this will be a big factor as to whether he passes the medicals or not, assuming his target organs are OK.

Regards

Tony

I don't think any disease/condition automatically rules you out except TB. So, assuming everything else is OK, you will probably find you will pass.

Can you tell us what kind of visa you are hoping to get? PR Skills visa, spouse visa, 457, etc?
