Hi Guys
I'm new to this board and obviously me my wife and my two year old daughter
are thinking about moving to Australia Perth, My wife was born in
Australia so has an Australian birth certificate and passport but her parent
moved back to the UK when she was 2. and she has lived here ever since we
met 5 year ago have been living together for 4 year and been married for 18
months we had our little girl two and a half years ago and married 18 months
ago so my questions are.
Do we have to apply for our daughters citizenship and if we do will we have
to fork out the £700
Can I apply for the permanent visa now or do I have to wait until our second
anniversary or get a tempory visa?
can me and my daughter apply on the same form as when reading though it
their was a section for dependant children.
can anyone give me some information about Perth
What suburbs are nice and good for children
What the expat network is like
Cleanliness, Road congestion all the stuff we hate about England.
Also what the IT industry is like out their at the moment .
I know it alot of questions but thanks very much

Hi Mark
1. Your daughter is eligible for Australian citizenship by descent -
just register her and then get an Australian passport. She won't then
need a visa.
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/118.pdf
also look at http://www.australia.org.uk which has information
specifically for UK-resident Australians wanting to register their
children as citizens.
2. It's a lot less than GBP700 to apply for citizenship by descent -
last time I looked it was less than GBP100.
3. The long term spousal relationship is defined by how long you have
lived together. As you have a child, as long as you can prove 2 years
cohabitation, you should be granted the permanent visa straight away.
You can then become a citizen yourself after 2 years in Australia.
4. You can just declare her on the form section for 'children not
included' and explain the reason.
5. If you want to include her on your application you can - there's no
application fee, but she would have to do a medical to be granted a
visa. I would just sort out her Aus citizenship instead.
Hope this helps.

Why not just register the child as an Australian citizen by descent?

All applications apply for both the temp and permanent visas. What
happens is that the case officer grants the temp visa (if successful)
and then looks to see if he can grant the PR visa straight away. That
depends on whether the 'long term relationship' criteria are satisfied.

Yes - but why someone with a child who's eligible for Australian
citizenship straight away would want to do this is not clear to me.
Especially if the child is British and hence no problem with dual
citizenship.
