Default Network Engineer MODL - experience????

My partner has just completed the following course, I-Pro Level 3 - Networking Technician (CCNA - CISCO) and is in the process of applying for jobs.

I have read through the ACS website in relation to relevant work experience but just get confused!!!

Can anyone advise? How long does he need to be in relevant employment for before we can apply for a skilled visa?

Thanks

Your partner needs to look at the ACS website: http://www.acs.org.au/

How many years of experience needed will depend on his specific circumstances. Suggest that you go through DIAC's website too: http://www.immi.gov.au/ and possibly look through some of the archives here and at the FAQ: http://ptlabs.topcities.com/faq0.html

Alternatively contact a registered migration agent who specializes in IT/ACS cases.

As a network engineer/Systems Admin/IT guy with no uni degree, you shall require SIX year professional experience.

I dont know the I-Pro courses sorry, but in order to avoid the RPL route (see ACS website) you require an alternative to an Australian diploma in IT......like an MSCE for example

Actually, if an RPL applicant has no degree/diploma in any discipline, eight years of profesional IT experience is required.

Well although a CCNA counts for jack, the work that a CCNA qualified person does could be constructed to be in the network security field. If he has the 6 or 8 years experience he could try to be assessed under that MODL catagory.

CCNA in itself won't advance your cause for MODL by much.

If you have CCSP, it may be more helpful.

Professional advice is probably useful in such scenarios.

CCSP wont help you any either, even though it is a security based certification it is not recognised by ACS. CISSP will do it though.

CCSP may assist you in getting assessed in getting MODL via Network Security.

CISSP will get you MODL via CISSP.

Two different avenues for the present MODL. I only suggested that CCSP may be helpful for MODL, if you read my post carefully When it comes to IT matters, I think I know what I'm talking about.

As do I pete, I suggest that you may also like to read my posts and not try to introduce confusion and false hope.

The CCSP qualification is in itself no use period. ACS will only asses on your work experience or specific recognised qualifications of which CCSP is NOT one. If we are being picky the CISSP certification will not in itself get you over the line either, they will still need to be convinced that you have spent 12 months working in the relevent field before you get those special words.

Been there, done that, got the T shirt.

Agree with you on the CCSP: I didn't say CCSP will be okay for MODL - I said it may be useful.

Your opinion on CISSP is inaccurate - CISSP alone is enough for MODL, but will need an underlying qualification (Group A, B or RPL) to get positively assessed.

And I'll leave this as that

I passed my RPL with ACS for Network Security MODL last year.
Peter was a great help so I can vouch for him.
