Hi Everyone, I am an Australian who has been living in the United States for almost 6
months, and am married to a US Citizen. We haven't filed my papers etc yet but I was
wondering, if we wanted to move back to Australia...what would we do? Would we be
able to go together with him on a visa waiver or tourist visa??
I've heard that I would have to return home by myself, then file for him to move
legally to Australia...and that visa or whatever would take 4 months or longer...I
can't wait that long...is there any other way to do it faster? Or so we can return
and live there together???
Thank you

There's no such thing as a visa waiver for Australia. There is an Electronic Travel
Authority, available for US citizens: http://www.eta.immi.gov.au
The risk when arriving with a plan to apply for a spouse visa onshore is that the
spouse could be refused entry on arrival.

The preferred route officially is to apply for a spouse visa offshore (ie at an
Australian mission in the US). You don't have to return to Australia yourself first.
