My Gov account

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are all safe & well, I am currently been living in the UK for the past 5 years, I hold both UK & Australian Citizenship.

It is possible to open a My gov account for australia whilst in the UK, has anyone been able to do that?

Thanks in advance

Hello Louie,

Thank you for the link, has anyone out there living in the UK with Australian citizenship have used the My gov account.

Is it straight forward to use?

Once the My gov has been created can you sort out your tax affairs easily or would you still need to go through an accountant?

Thanks for any feedback.....

I set up mine while still in Oz but now in the US, and I do have problems with it. Can't seem to update with an overseas address and, after paying through the nose for 12 months of mail redirect, I'm now just giving up on it. Accounts like this are also one of the reasons I pay to keep my Oz phone.

Our tax returns are handled by our Oz accountant, who uses her details for correspondence.

The Gov websites can be a pain, and take you round in circles! I have found that calling and speaking to a real person is the answer, they have always been extremely helpful.
