Default My girlfriend...

Hi,

I'm currently in the early stages of applying for my PR. I'm also in a pretty new relationship which is going OK but not sure where we'll be (should I be successful) by the time my visa is granted.

Should I be successful and if she came out on a Working Holiday visa (she's under 30), what would happen when that Visa expires?

If we got married would she be able to stay?
Would we have to get married to enable her to stay or is there another option?

Her occupation isn't on the skilled occupations list.

Thanks in advance.

RM

I'm surprised this has had 66 views and no responses. Is it that difficult a topic or are people choosing not to respond after Tuesday's small ruffling of feathers re: Credit Card Debt?

Doubt its anything to do with that, more than there are different answers depending on a huge number of variables, none of which can be known yet.

PR visa's can take a while, ours nearly took 2 years. So i would think that you have time to see how your relationship goes with your new partner. Then you could always add her to the application further down the line, i would have thought. I maybe wrong, but im sure someone will correct me if that is the case.

Good Luck

Visa rules can change a lot in that time, but if things stayed the same - yes, you could marry her and she could apply for a spouse visa; or if you live together for 12 months she could apply for a de facto visa.
