Default My chances for skilled immigration?

Hi all,
I'm interested in skilled migration for Australia
Here is a brief background of mine.
I've done PhD in Molecular biology from Flinders University of South Australia and I've lived in SA for 4.5 years on student visa. Later on I'v returned to my home country where I'm teaching Microbiology as an Assistant Professor in a Government university. My teaching experience is of 17 years, all in Microbiology. I've total 20 years of education which includes undergraduate, graduate, and post doctorate. My age is 45 years. I'm married and have no kids.

I'll be very grateful if someone can give me some feedback about my chances of immigration for both independent and provisional.

Thanks.

I believe that at 45 you are now too old for permanent migration unfortunately.

Unfortunately you have just left it too late. The age cut off for permanent visas is 45

There are age exemptions for university lecturers in the ENS/RSMS visa classes. The OP should get some professional advice.

Hi,
Thanks everyone for the replies.

Sorry I got bit late in replying as I was reading about ENS/RSMS visa classes.
@Paul Hand: I've checked the age eligibility criteria for both ENS/RSMS visa and it says below:

Usually, you must be under 45 years of age when you apply.

You are exempt from this criteria if any of the following applies to you:
  • you are nominated as an academic (university lecturer or faculty head at Academic Level B, C D or E) by a university in Australia.
  • ....
  • ....
  • ....
I understand that if I'm nominated by an academic (uni lecturer) by a university in Australia, then I believe I will meet age criteria which is my weak point here.

However, I'm little confused about "nomination" thing. Does it mean I should have a valid job offer letter from a university in Australia or something else? It will be great if you could provide some feedback regarding nomination requirement.

Note: I will definitely get a professional advise as recommended. But before that I just wish to gather some info on my case before I seek professional advise. Thanks heaps!

Yes - you will need a job with an employer who is willing and able to nominate you for the role. This requires certain obligations on the part of the employer, which large employers of international skilled staff, such as universities, are generally familiar with. It is a 2 stage process - the employer must nominate the role and get this approved and you apply for the visa based on the nomination.
