moving states STNI visa?
Hi,
We moved to Tasmania on a stni visa sub class 137. We only ended up completing 5 months then had to return to England for personal reasons. Whilst we were there the place was absolutely beautiful but jobs were non existant for us really.
After 2 and a half years back in UK we are wanting to move back now but this time to WA.
My questin is on a STNI you are oblidged to stay in the state for 2 years before moving interstate. So how do we stand if we go back next year into a different state altogther after having first arrived 4 years previous?
Hope this makes sense as we will not be coming back over if we cant move to the mainland as Tasmania just was not for us.
Ive searched back and found some answers similar so any up to date info much appreciated.

Did you let the Tasmanian state authorities know when you moved back to the UK?
Entirely separately, you should study carefully the requirements for a "concessional" resident return visa as you will not be able to clock up 2 years in Australia before the re-entry facility on your 137 visa expires:
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/968i.pdf
Also look carefully at the requirements for citizenship - you'll need to clock up 2 years in Australia (they look back 5 years, so a break of less than 3 years means you'll be able to continue counting the previous 6 months) and apply for citizenship before 30 June 2010. Otherwise the new 4 year rule will apply.
