I have recently bought a new Suzuki 750 motorcycle in the UK. We have
started the process to migrate to Victoria and would it be worth taking the
bike and if so how much would the import charges be.

PS We will be shipping our furniture in a container so I was wondering if
the bike could go in this.

i've been doing the sums myself on taking my beemer over there. The figures work out about the same for the shipping/taxes/duties etc as it was for the loss in value i'd receive if i sold it over here. However what i didn't take in to account was the higher insurance costs, registration costs and the fact the resale value falls in oz as the bike is classed as an import. I'm going to flog mine before i leave and buy new when i get there as this works out the cheaper option, and i get a new bike in the process!

As far as i can find out, it is possible to take a bike in the container with the rest of your belongings. I can't help with the costings, but i know there are people on here who have done so.

paul des is taking his pan european with him it is going in our 20 ft container, he has to pay tax on it but it will be worth it as it is a k reg and not too much tax to pay although he has to steam clean it
