Default Motor mechanic TRA assessment

Hi,
hope someone can help,
My brother is a motor mechanic looking at emigrating to Australia on a Skilled Independent 136. He's just looking at TRA assessment, can anyone give us a rough idea of how long the assessment takes? Also how much detail do they ask for on the references and how far back do you need to give references?
Thanks in advance
Marie

If he wants to make sure he gets thru the TRA process then he should contact John Nye he specialises in skilled migration and TRA applications.
If you want it done right the first time then he is the man to contact on [email protected]
He is also placing mechanics with employers at the moment if they want to go to the Peel Region in WA

If we are waving the flag about assistance with TRA applications have a read here, and reference to my colleague Glenn Newton in particular:

If you would like an initial freebie chat (including details of our fees) please feel able to enter your details here:

Marie,

Presently the timeline for TRA applications seems to be coming down, from about 16 weeks a month or two back to about 11 or 12 weeks at the moment - for a priority processed application that is (cost - A$500). The non priority processed fee of A$300 will probably see an application decided in some 6 months (though for A$200 - about GBP80 - I'd suggest you go with a "priority" application).

Maybe also have a look at this website:

Best regards.

Our application for TRA was about 90 pages.
Lots and Lots of detail.

Could not have done it without Glenn Newton and the Go Matilda team.

And they already have our full application filled in and ready to go, just need to update refs.

Got our TRA today, submitted 11th October, so thats just over 11 weeks including Xmas.

Thanks for the advice everyone I'll pass it onto my brother.
He's just frantically going round garages to get a job at the moment. He took 6 months out to do some other stuff. But if he dosen't get a job in the next 2 weeks in the UK he will have to do another 12 months work experience before he can apply for PR.
Thanks again

Not necessarily ... if he is looking at SA, VIC, or TAS and can secure a State Nomination he could apply for a Skills Matching visa which "only" requires 6 months skilled work in the last 12.

Best regards.

Thanks Alan,
But he's not in too much a rush as his girlfriend is doing her Nurse Training, she dosen't qualify until Sept 2006. So he has the time to sort it out, he dosen't want to go State nominated either, I've got my PR visa, we are going about July 2005, we are thinking of Brisbane, my brother is l;ooking to be close to us if he can.
They where going to wait for his girlfriend and go on her visa, but by the time she gets work experience and applies they are looking at end of 2007 at the earliest, but if they get the visa before she qualifies they can go as soon as she finishes, they may just have to validate the visa on a holiday.
Thanks for the advice
Best Regards Marie

Not a problem Marie.

For completeness I'll also mention employer sponsored visas (just in case of need) - lots of information is here:

Best wishes for 2005.
