Default Mother needs to visit but which visa

Hi,

We have got skil-ind BN136 visa (PR) and going to MELB next week. My wife is pregnant now and we are expecting our baby in the month of April.

We would like to call our mother and on which visa she can use to travel to australia? we want her to join in the time of baby born.

Can some one suggest us??

Thanks in advance...

Shiv ...

Do you want your mother there permanently or just when the baby is born. She should just be able to come on a tourist visa (ETA) which is valid for 3 months. http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/visiting_tourism.htm
If it is for PR I think the visa is quite hard to get, a lot depends on whether you/she has any remaining family in India.

The remaining relative visa sounds about the best way if you require permanent residence, but as mentioned above, it depends on how many family members you have in India, if your mother is left alone then you can probably use this visa as a potential way forward.

Good luck in Oz.

Dear Raj, Shiv, Michelle,

You should be clear that an ETA is not available for an Indian passport holder - unless lucky enough to hold a passport for an ETA eligible country.

In this situation you'll need to go down the path of a visitor visa. Once you get here you'll find that just about everyone with origins in the subcontinent has a story to tell about bringing relatives for short visits. Best advice I can give you is to arrive well ahead of the date you plan for the visit, and listen carefully to what the community here say about the evidence required. Not many migration agents can help in a cost effective way - in our case we rarely get involved with visitor visa applications and don't know the current processing pattern for visitor visas in New Delhi but you'll find that many of the people you meet once you get here will have up to date information about the current requirements through New Delhi.

Cheers,

George Lombard

Dear George,

Thanks a lot for the info, I personally feel that a highly experienced and a honest person like you should be helping out people who want to bring their lonely mothers of fathers who want to join their families in australia.

regards,
Raj
