You don't need to meet them face to face. Some people even use Au based agents whilst in the UK. As long as the agent is MARA registered, you should be fine.

Phone a couple of MARA Registered Agents and speak to them about your occupation and qualifications. Be sure you are speaking with a Registered Agent though and not a salesperson. Most will give you a free assessment over the phone and discuss your options with you. Get a written quote that confirms their assessment, the fees payable and a copy of their Service Contract. Take it from there. Start with Concept, Visa Bureau and Visa-Go. All have good reputations and are MARA Resgistered.

Migration Agent?
Hi Everyone!
We are in the very early stages of looking into migrating to Australia. Can anyone offer some advice on whether or not we should use a migration agent? If so, do you have any recommendations? And is it best to go for an agent based in the UK or Australia?
Thank you!

Any MARA registered Agent will be suitable. Look on the MARA register.

Maybe also contact this firm, and discuss your situation, how they might help, etc.
Good luck!

I used Conceptaustralia. I'm a Sparky but dont think it mattered, i think they deal with all trades. I've just been granted my Skilled Visa. I'm from Birmingham and done everything by phone or email. I think it cost about £1000-1500. Not sure if this is expensive or not but i thougth it was well worth the money. I have contact details if needed. Good luck

Re: Migration Agent?
Welcome to the site, i'm new myself.
I used an agent which cost me about £1000-1500. It was definately worth the money. There seemed to be a lot of things to sort out, which i personaly would have got snowed under with. It helped as i worked away from home so got things emailed and scanned to me. But saying that plenty of people on here do it themselves. It depends how much time your willing to put into.
I used Conceptaustralia, They were helpfull when needed. I've just been granted my skilled migration visa.
Hope this helps, if you need any more info i'll help where i can.

Hi There
Thank you for your help - funnily enough, I was just about to ring Conceptaustralia but thought I'd check on here first!
How are things going for you?

Hi Kelly,
I've not actually made it to Oz yet, i'm busy working away at the minute before i go there.
I'm hoping to be there in the next 2 months, in the mean time i have my time occupied trying to sort out the WA Electrical liciense before i go. Looking forward to it though as the time is getting nearer :-)

Re: recommendation for immigration agent
Hello People,
This is my first post and a bit of a strange one, Well a warning really
The Link above goes to a strange web site and has nothing at all to do with Visa's.
Comming from an IT background I would recoommend not to visit it on the chance of something nasty making it's way to your machine.
Not saying that the person who posted it meant for this to happen, I think the page may have been hijacked / hacked.
If I am wrong and it was meant to go to this "Wolf, Foreign language" page, My sincere appologies, But please explain,
Toodaloo
