Good day. I am are getting ready to migrate to Sydney in Aug this year. Needless
to say I am very concerned of the economic situation in Oz especially after
reading this morning's SMH. Although there is still a lot of job vacancies
presently available, I am wondering whether I should wait until the economy
recovers or stick to my plan ? Opinions are greatly appreciated.

Regards.

Hi,

If I remember correctly you're an accountant, aren't you? There are still many
jobs available for accountants. And economic downturns create new opportunities
for people with your kind of skills.

Besides, you must arrive in Australia by a given date.

So, it is entirely up to you whether you wish to quit your present job before
leaving for Australia, or take paid/unpaid leave and then quit whilst in
Australia after obtaining employment.

Best Wishes.

Is there any fallout from the .com effect in the US in Australia at the moment?

I suspect if this isn't now there will be soon.

Yes there certainly is economic uncertainty here in Oz.The .com has affected most
investments to a degree and made investors sit, think and either wait or sit on blue
chip stock. If the rest of this month is bad then it will be officially declared a
recession - don;t expect to see many people leaping out of skyscrapers or anything.

The Oz $ is very weak at the moment and if you are moving from the UK or USofA
get that money changed. If you have some decent funds that may help you to live
for a while.

From what I see I doubt if things are going to become bad against European standards.
Things may change rapidly with the expected outcome of the general election.

The fun is... in what direction will they go?

The current lot are busy wrecking the place before they move out. The incoming lot
have a lot of difficulty facing them and it's not clear if they can talk the talk
enough to keep investors happy.

ON the other hand, they might be enough of a change to get people thinking things
might get a bit better.

We will be hit by the international stuff, but how hard and what way is hard to tell.

Maybe we'll have a beef-led recovery

Zebee
