Default Medical Request

Had a letter in the post this morning requesting medicals be sent. We applied at the end of November 2002 (skilled independent, skills assessed by IEAust).

This seems very early in the process. (3 months after acknowledgement letter).

I have had a quick look on Austimeline and most requests for medicals are a quite a bit later in the application process.

How does this fit with other peoples experiences? Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks
Karl.

Hi Karl,

We applied in September 2002 (139 Visa) and had the request for our medicals at the beginning of February. It would appear that certain Visa classes are being 'fast-tracked', hope yours is one of them.

ps if you have not already done so then send off for your police checks now as it takes b****y ages.

Best of luck

Sindy

Hi Sindy,

Thanks for the advice. We have did our police checks and sent them off with our application. I know that this isn't advisable as they expire, but for the sake of £10 each it didn't worry me too much. I've got a note in my diary to get new ones before these expire.

Good luck with you application.

Cheers
Karl.

Hi Karlos

Hubby is a Civil Engineer (bridges) and we applied last May 02. Only got requests for medicals etc on 11th Feb 03 so boy oh boy are you moving! Are you being state sponsored as I notice that these applications move a lot more quickly?

Best of luck

Yeh, I can't believe how fast the request has come through. I was resigned to not hearing anything until much later this year.

I was assessed as a mechanical engineering technologist (nothing special) and no we aren't going for state sponsored just regular independent skilled migration.

Fingers crossed. Booking medicals tomorrow.

Cheers
Karl.
