Medical information required
Hi, I'm looking to sponsor my husband. We're worried about the medical. We're both Scottish but I've Australian citizenship.
My husband has had two heartatacks. The last one 4 years ago, he's also got arthritis. When I did my medical back in 07 I had to walk like a duck, I know my husband couldn't do this.
Would he fail the medical because of this? Or because he's had two heartatacks? He's had stents put in.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I obviously can't answer for the examining doctor, but I just wanted to wish you and yours good luck!

It would be a good idea to speak to a specialist agent such as George Lombard.

Re: Medical information required
The last guidance document I saw for doctors conducting medicals for Aussie immigration stated the following for people with ischaemic heart disease:
A-Grade: Stable and asymptomatic (i.e. no ongoing major symptoms of concern)
B-Grade: If unstable or symptomatic, refer for cardiology assessment including echo(cardiogram)
For arthritis, the guidance is
A-Grade: Minor disease - no interference with function.
B-Grade: Significant disease affecting ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living) or work capacity.
Perform functional assessment and document treatment requirements. Specialist report not required unless requested.
So your husband may well need specialist reports depending on the opinion of the examining doctor and how disabled/stable he is.
* Be aware this guidance may have changed recently but for these two conditions I doubt the changes will have been significant

Thanks very much for the reply. His heart is quite stable after being scented. His arthritis isn't. I've messaged George Lombard asking for advise. Hopefully he will reply.
