Children below 11 do need a medical but will not be required to have a blood test or an xray.

The medical exam for children is very basic and if they are too young they will not even be expected to do a urine test.
We had our medicals in June when our son was only 12 mths old and it was very limited for him, just a quick check of eyes, ears and movement of limbs from what I remember still charged something like £50 for the pleasure!!!!

My children were 2, 5 and 6 and had height, weight, ears, eyes, back, vaccination record checked. They all had a urine sample checked, youngest had his nappy tested.

It is obvious from this forum that medical examinations vary from doctor to doctor.

My then 6 year old had to do a wee in a tube - poor thing! No check on my 1 year olds nappy though.

Oterwise the kids tests seemed really superficial.

We have booked our meds, we wanted to have them done in Oct, but they
would not do them because my daughter needed an xray as she is going
to be 11 in Nov and
was told by agent that we needed her to have xray because she will be
11 when we enter Aus. Having Meds 2 days after her 11th birthday.

Default Medicals for 'nearly' 11 year olds

Do you have to wait until your daughter is 11 to have the medical or could you not just pay for the x-ray anyway and explain that they will soon be 11 and therefore will need it?
My daughter will be 11 in March so will possibly be in a similar situation if asked in next few months to get medicals done. Anyone in the know out there?
