Medical. Blood Pressure. Friend of mine

had his medical a few weeks ago, quite a fit bloke, but scared he might fail and lose his chance of going to Australia. The Doctor said his blood pressure was quite high. She submitted his form to the authorities, and said this can happen because he was stressing. Does the fact she submitted them mean he was OK, or could he still fail? Thanks.

He may be asked to have further tests done or he may not. They are unlikely to refuse him because of it. Worrying about it won't help the blood pressure though so I'd suggest he goes to his own GP for another test and if it's still high for them to see what they can do to bring it down or find the reason for it. Then if he is asked for more tests he'll have more information for them.

I had to do a 24hr bp test (You wear a bp machine over night).
You will have to organise/pay for this.

This was due to me stressing and having white coat hypertension, just looking at a doctor made me freak.

So yes, they may request a 24hr bp test. I was told if its still high they may request further tests to check you have not got any other medical issues causing the high bp.
Luckily mine was fine, and got our visa.

What's the next stage, (all being well)? Does he get his date? He's been accepted for State sponsorship, passed his trades test, got clean Police records etc.

This thread is several months old so you may not get a reply.

If blood pressure is a bit high they may just ask for it to be re-done, to allow for the stress of the medical, or if they believe there are underlying conditions they may want more tests. Either way its a personal medical scenario and your experience will be different.
