Hi there

My husband and I wish to immigrate to oz. We have filled the
application visa and are ready to send but where wondering if you have
to get your medical before sending it off. Also does anyone have any
idea how much it costs for the visa (we are going under my husbands
occupation Chef). I was infomed that it cost around �550.

Its approximately 2000 ausie dollars which equates to £847

No you do not need to have medicals before you apply. You can do this which is call front loading but most people wait until they are requested by the case office as anything can happen with your application and why waste the money.

Also it is my understanding that the visa time frames are all based on the date the meds are undertaken or visa granted “which ever is earlier” so if you front load and it takes 6 months + to get your visa which need to be validated with 12 months time can get tight + plus your medical will only be valid for a limited time period

As mick_newcastle has indicated the first step id to get your skills assess and the references you need this could take you a few months alone ours has take 4 months I had all the reference already.

ad yes it cost around £150.00 per person for the skills assessment, £850 for the main application and £300 per person for the meds

Many thanks for your help. I have printer off the TRA application. As
I am going on my husbands occupation will it only be him that has to
complete the skills assessment. It looks like we have a lot to do,
think we have been a bit naive on how long this is going to take. Many

If you need any help let me know as my hubby is also a chef & its can be quite difficult to get through the TRA if you are unsure.....

Hello Claire

Thank you for your help. I was wondering if its possible for me to
scane and email you our TRA once we have all the docs certified and
check itts up to standard. I knew this was going to be a nightmare but
not
as much as this we never even new about the TRA until we looked at this
