My Girlfriend (Australian Citizen) is living with me in the UK under a working holiday
visa We plan to marry next year and would hope to get married in Australia (It's a girl
thing) What kind of visa would I need to apply for if we wanted to stay in Australia and
work - I have 12 years exp. in the IT industry - I have also launched an ISP in Brisbane
with it's own ABN Not sure though if we are married - what is the quickest/easiest was for
me to apply for residency.

Any feedback greatly welcomed.

A Prospective Marriage (Fiance) visa would be worth looking at. Alternatively,
if you meet the de-facto criteria you could apply for spouse migration now. It
depends on when you want to move to Australia.

Once you have residency, you can work in Australia without restriction.

Your qualifications/experience won't make any difference if you apply on
spouse/fiance grounds. If you qualify for skilled migration on the basis of your
IT skills, it might be worth looking at that route instead, as you would get PR
straight away rather than having to spend 2 years on a spouse visa before
getting PR. If you want to become an Australian citizen, you've got to wait for
2 years after your PR comes through (plus live in Australia), so skilled would
be the quicker route to this if you qualified.
