I used to fly a lot of business miles, so have enough for a free flight to oz with Emirates, so need to use them for booking my tickets.

Also, when is the best time to book the house contents to go?? After the house sale? After the visa Grant?? After both?? We have had an assessment done, and have received quotes which we are waiting to sign against. Just not sure if we should book a provisional date, as we dont have the visa, or a confirmed house sale??

Nail biteing times these......!

Anyway, best of luck everyone! Hope people start getting news today!

Rgds,
Kenny and Wendy.
i'd say don't book anything until you've got the visa in your passport, look how many others have been up the creek by doing the same, i thought we would have had ours by now and we're still waiting on the case officer?

as for sending the furniture, i think it's better to show the house furnished...or so they say

good luck anyway love

It was a good meet not that many there though. One couple-army, from the valleys but i didnt hear exactly where.
Life certainly has become more hectic on the socialising front biut that doesnt change the fact i can not hold my drink. I am 45 !! mind so well on way to 50. Mind you the way its going i will be 50 and still waiting for my visa grant !!

Rgds,
Kenny and Wendy.
We have heard nothing since sending meds 2nd July and like welshviking are doing nothing until visa is in passport just tiding up house for potential sale if we reach that stage.

Havent checked e-mails since computer died but have given up on going this year.

Hang in there Ternya, some have been really quick on this thread but it took us 17 monthsto get our visa's, I wouldn't book anything until you have that visa, although now waiting to sell the house. It really trys your patience this Oz thing, hopefully it will be worth it

Lesley-Ann, happy birthday honey!! think i may have already wished it to you somewhere, but here it is again!.

Had a good weekend and it's now 12 wks to go!! and counting. had a few nightmares last night. thought about the flight had a panic attack, got very anxious when i was thinking of Australia... Whats going on.. just that 'other person' telling me off for what i'm doing!

Felt alright this morning though, very positive infact.. Strange eh??

such a big move it's gonna happen at some point.

Sam, if the dentist didnt quote you where did you get your prices from for the braces and will yours fit them before you go???? mines still adimant they need months to sort out.. I can remember mine took ages too.. (going back about 22 years!!) let me know... might go private...

Hey Sam, just rang around dentists for last half an hour. got the private dental practise in town and will cost £35 for assessment, £65 impressions, xrays etc, then £2750 for braces and after care for 2 yrs....

However he said he may be able to do a quickie for her before we go, told him only got 12 wks. he said would cost £500 for the brace itself (top and bottom) and £100 to fit then could carry the rest on in Australia.... He's gonna ring me back in a bit......

On NHS its free but there is a 7/8 mth waiting list to get the initial assessment then could take another few months before brace fitted.. !!

It actually works out more expensive here but my health insurance will pay a bulk of it in UK, where in Oz wont get anything straight away....

I'll let you know what he says..

Ok, private dentist just rang me,, slim chance may be able to do it in 3 mths, will also cost around £1000 for brace and fitting and consultation etc.... the rest of £1750 was for after care...

I'm in the wrong proffesion!

Well hi everyone,

Just catching up on past couple of weeks. How disappointing on the visa front. Cant believe its still so slow . Still no news here, 12 weeks now since meds were signed for... Dont even say "maybe this week" anymore... At least getting away stopped us checking emails and the phone every 10 seconds!!.. even my sim card packed up while we were away and now lost all numbers ( I think someone was trying to tell us something)

Anyway congrats to those that have had good news.. and in other ways re: Babies, birthdays and celebrations etc

Karma to those with disappointment, panic attacks, bad news, hangovers and to those getting teeth fixed!!!!!!!!!
