IT Manager - ACS - NEW SOL

Hi Everyone,
I am an IT Manager about to submit my application for skills assessment to the ACS. It has taken so much longer than I anticipated to put together but now it is ready. However, with the new SOL imminent am I wasting my time if IT Manager is removed? I don't understand the timing on the SOL, it is released April but not effective till Mid 2010...?
I'm guessing if IT Manager is removed my assessment and visa app wouldn't get approved by Mid 2010 anyway but I would appreciate some opinions.
Thanks
Darren

Re: IT Manager - ACS - NEW SOL

Hi Darren,

I have an application lodged since March 2008 as IT manager and got caught in the change in priority processing in January 2009..... So do not expect your application to be looked at quickly......
"IT manager" is not on the CSL. My advice would be to see if you can get a different assessment based on your work experience, for an IT profession currently on the CSL. Chances are high they will be on the new SOL.

Good luck.

Hi, I did check the CSL but the computing professions are very specialised and I don't fit there....I also believe this list is being revoked with the introduction of the new SOL. I just hope I haven't spent months doing my ACS paperwork for nothing  I suppose everything will be clearer when the new SOL is released.
Thanks
Darren

Hi Darren

If you wait for the new SOL to be released before you lodge your ACS application and IT Managers are no longer on the new SOL, it will be too late to get an application through the ACS in time to beat the commencement of the new SOL. There are three possiblities:

1 - New SOL is effective 01 July and IT manager is not on there
2 - New SOL is effective 01 September and IT Manager is not on there
3 - regardless of when new SOL is effective, IT Manager is on the new SOL

If no. 1 happens, you can only hope that IT Manager makes it on to one of the new State Plans.

If 2 happens, you will be over the moon that you applied for your ACS assessment in May

If 3 happens, you will have lost a month or so in processing time but you should be OK

So there is the information, you make the decision when to apply for the ACS.

Regards

Tony
