Would depend on his qualifications and skillsas to what Occupation Code he would nominate and then on the duties in his positions for the last 4 years as to what code his experience would come under.

If he was Engineering or simularly trained and his position was a highly skilled logistics position, then there is hope for him.

What academic qualifications, if any, does your friend hold and what does he do for a living?
If you post this information, someone might make a guess for you

With an MBA he can nominate any 50 point occupation where VETASSESS is the assessing body. He will not score the required 120 points so presumably will be sponsored by a relative or he is looking at an SIR visa. Whatever skilled pathway he is going, success will hinge on whteher his recent experience is classified as a skilled occupation on the SOL. He can claim the general coding of Business and Information Professionals Not Elsewhere Classified - this may be accepted by DIMIA. Depending on the type of Logistics there may be a more specific coding that could be claimed. He should get a competent Agent to advise him as his experience classification is not obvious and an Agent can help put forward a strong case.

Dear Lord WHO,

Actually if you're familiar with the expose Lords of Poverty I'd be reluctant to use that particular pseudonym!

I was with UNHCR for four years and saw a number of logisticians in action and I think that while it might be hard to justify conceptually what a logistician does in terms of the SOL, it's most likely that he's got a claim to being a Supply and Distribution Manager (which is on the SOL), particularly if working for a UN agency in a place like Burma, but there's a bit of a gulf between that and the next ASCO definition down, which would be something like a Supervisor, Stock and Purchasing Clerks, which is down in Chapter 6 of ASCO and certainly not on the SOL.

I agree with Tony that a quick fix might also be Business and Information Professionals nec, but get him to look at Supply and Distribution Manager in ASCO at http://www.abs.gov.au/Ausstats/[email protected]?opendocument

Cheers,

George Lombard

Hi,

Hubby in the RAF has been in Supply and Logistics for over 18 years now, is this something he could look at. Has been all over the world with it? Or would it not be be seen as a managers postion?

This may be able to push us to a 138 with the extra 5 pts, but got a feeling its not likely. But hey, if you don't ask....
