Bablu,
The number of IT openings today won't tell you how many openings there will be once you've been accepted to migrate to one of these countries. And each region/city will have a different situation. And each country/region/city will have a different number of people looking for work.
If you qualify for migration to both Australia and Canada, then you should ask yourself which country you would like to live in, raise your children in, grow old in.
(BTW, superficially, it appears to me that Canada has more IT openings, presumably since it is closer to the US, with cheaper wages. A lot of American companies set up branch offices in Canada to take advantage of the lower cost for Canadian professional staff.)

Both of the countries does not have much IT jobs and depends how good are you with cold. If you dont mind cold climate then CANADA is better as you can get US work visa easily and things are not very costly as compared to Australia. Mind it, that cost of living in Sydney is ridiculously expensive.

I'm sad to say that my thorough analysis of Autralian IT job market for 2 years has given me a very pessimistic future for IT here.I have done my Masters in IT here with high distinction grades and i have no hopes of finding a job in the near future. This is also true for people with experience. Be prepared to do some odd job till you get a job and there is no guarantee that you will find one. I have tried all the avenues and managed to get a job in a call centre as a customer executive.
All i can say is," Guys who are in India...stay back!!!. You have much better oppurtunities to work there. I have been to India sometime ago and my view is that Australia is very, very small IT job market in comparision". I have decided to go back in October. No point in sticking here with taxis and petrol stations.
Excuse me if i'm blunt

I work in India. THe work culture stinks here. Long hours and no personal life. Long hours means really long like 12 to 14 hours and six days in a week. One can say job market in India is improving or better. I believe it is same as US job market like improving or better. But it is not greener as you guys assume in India IT market. They pay really low wages in IT market of India.
I believe you guys should try to find jobs in the following fields instead :
1) Teaching
2) Taxis
3) SAP/Peoplesoft/Oracle DBA ( coaching in India is available for these areas).
4) Unix System Administrator.
Java or Halwa do not have future.
Please feel free to give comments.

Re: IT Jobs
And on the flipside, a friend of mine is in Sydney right now and is
contracting (Novel/Win2k AD/Exchange2k) and is doing fine, reckons there's
work around if you have kept your skills up to date.

And remember: India will only be attractive to the corporate robber barons
as outsourcing destination, until something even cheaper offer itself.
Maybe start working on Zambian residency. Or Laos. Or Mongolia. Or...
Or, get your skillset in an IT area that can't easily be outsourced. Stay
away from tech support and development.

Which IT positions cannot be Outsourced? Only positions I can think
of: Networking, system administration, System Security. In addition,
web development position seem immune if they are related to rapid
development.
Comments please.
